How was your day guys!! This semester almost finish guys, so what we have to do is reading and reviewing all stuffs that we have learned through this semester:D So, today's topic is going to be the very last blog in this semester. I would like to say thank you for everyone who have been following my post since the first day of semester till today!!! I really appreciate that:))) Anyway, recently second half of this semester main topic that we mostly discussed in class is about "ADVERTISING", so I would like to pick up this topic to discuss and talk with you guys. Also, as you can know that in this postmodernism era we was controlled and influenced by media. Surely, advertising is one of the parts that media take control. So, today's topic is going to be about "The influence of media on advertising" Are you guys excited about this topic hahaha:D I hope so!!!!
Let's get started!!!!!
It is commonly accepted that advertising is an activity or profession of producing advertisements for commercial products or services. Anyway, we cannot deny that there are several advertisings back then. But, as you can tell advertising's today is very different from back then. Can you guy guess what is the difference????? In the past there are no new innovation or technology that can easily expand to the large group of people. It can be said that back then most advertisings are mostly in terms of printed poster or short audio which was opened via radio station. According to this, people will may not easily see or notice like at this present time. So, in my opinion advertising in the past may not be successful that much. Looking into more details about advertising in the past, personally most advertising back then will bring the topic about gender to sell to audience. For example, they try to portray that male is better than female or some advertisements show that female as a product to male. Also, representation of men is being strong, has more power and even independence in term of thought, action, finances and so on. On the contrary, women were represented as a group of people who are very emotional. So, it can be said that there is a big issue about gender equality. This is probably because media just intentionally pick up and highlighted about gender topic.
On the contrary, moving back to advertising in this postmodernism era. It is commonly accepted that advertising's today is just a normal thing in our life. It will pop up to many medias that we use such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram. So, as you can see advertising in this era is super easy to see and to find since wherever you go there will be advertising. Personally, I agree that advertising is the good things to portray how good the service and product to the audience. But sometimes I feel a little bit annoyed since it pop up everywhere. For example, when I watch YouTube, It will come up before the video which is really annoying. To be honest with you guys, I always click skip the ad since I do not want to watch it. Also, when I swipe to see photos of my following, I see many advertisings. Therefore, I want to say that advertising is a necessary thing to persuade audience to buy product, but in this postmodernism era there are too much advertisings on media. For me, this may be one of the causes that attention span of people decrease.
Moreover, there are some product brands that use media as a medium to sell the product!!!! So, their strategy is using celebrities or famous people to sell the product. The rule is the brand owner will rent celebrities to post or say something good about product or even write the good caption in order to attract the customer.
Consequently, as you can see these are some of information about advertising from back then to today. I guess that you guys can obviously the difference between two eras, and also know more about how media influence advertising such as using celebrities to sell product and doing advertising via social media such as Facebook, Instagram:D

So, in today's post I will talk about one of the theories that we do not know that it already control us for a long time. Can you guys guess?? Let's me give some clues!! It a theory that related to the transformation from Symbolic into Semiotic process. I will give you a second to think hahaha Tick-Tock. And the answer is " Simulacrum" theory. I'm sure that some of you guys are not familiar to this word.
Let's me explain to you:D
Nowadays, we cannot deny that the TV programs or the stuffs from media are not 100 percent true. This is mostly because the real information was adapted and also designated into hypereality. In other words the information such as pictures, videos being displayed via media are processed and hyperreal(excess of reality). Therefore, in this post I will use Disneyland as an example of simulacrum. I'm certain that talking about Disneyland, you could think that it is compared as a paradise or happy place since all princes and princess character that you consume via media live together with happiness everlastingly. On the contrary, all characters were created for telling audience to believe or have a good attitude towards disney's character (semiotic exchange). Similarly, the castle that is the logo of disneyland was created by people's imagination which is too good to be true. So, let's look into more detail about simulacrum towards Disneyland!!!!It is commonly accepted that today media offer the information that is hyperreal. The media actually cause non-communication which means media will think for us. For example, the media will process and adapt information which related to character or something that they would like audience to have perception or attitude like what they set up. So, talking about non-communication, it links to two theories that a few people in postmodernism society know. One is symbolic exchange and semiotic exchange. Firstly, let's me show the difference between these two. Symbolic exchange is like our communication in daily life since people can interpret the message directly. And it also shows what actually happens since the information is very raw or organic information. It can be said that audience can think and analyse by themselves. Another theory is semiotic exchange. This theory obviously replace and influence reality. It shows something with opinion attached and the information is processed, stimulated or hyperreal. Hence, media tell audience to believe like the Disneyland.
Let's look deep into details, all Disneyland characters such as Cinderella, Snow White or wizard was set up by media. They want to shape audience's perception about good and bad character. On the contrary, in real life some people who have good-looking may not be good like what people think. Or, some who look like a bad guy may not bad as you think. So, this can be a good example of symbolic and semiotic exchange. It can be said that the media distance audience away from symbolic exchange where everything is real.

Let's move to Simulacrum.
Simulacrum is the transformation from the symbolic into semiotic where media mask reality instead of reflecting it. What we call reality is only just "SIMULACRUM". It can be said that simulacrum is marked not by its unreality but by an excess of reality or hyperreality. For example, when you see Disneyland picture such as castle, atmosphere in Disneyland via media is very amazing and look like a paradise. But behind those beautiful pictures were reproduced such as photoshop or add more color or even adjust the light of real picture. So, when people watch it again and over again, they may feel bored of it since the information is over the reality. This is mostly because media have exaggerated things in reality which make them too good to be true. So, audience will feel disappointed when they know that the reality is not like the image boasted by the media. As we can tell Disneyland is a good example of hypereality. Disneyland was created to look absolutely realistic which take all visitors to have an imagination that it's real. Nevertheless, this false reality that shape visitor's perception create an illusion and make it more desirable for people to buy this reality. For example, the fake atmosphere of Disneyland satisfies visitor's imagination and daydream fantasies in real life. In terms of simulacrum, imaginary world of Disneyland attract people to inside and has been presented as imaginary to make people have a perception that all things in Disneyland is real. But it is actually hyperreal.

Guys Today I will talk about one of the printed medias that was very popular back then!! Can you guys guess what it is hahaha:) I thought you can notice from the topic and picture below.
Yessssss, this post I will talk about the revolution of magazine from past to present time.
It is commonly accepted that magazine publication or printed media that will be published in a regular schedule. It contains the variety of content such as fashion, lifestyle, make up, health and even horoscope haha. I know you!!! I'm sure that many times that you read magazine since you are curious to know what is going to happen in life. Am I right???
Anyway, there are several brand magazine that have been in this industry for many years such as Vogue, Time magazine, seventeen and so on. Nevertheless, when our world become postmodernism, there are lot of magazine industries that need to shut down their business. This is probably because they did no have enough sponsors or advertisings that could maintain the finance of company. Consequently, in this post I'm going to talk about Magazine from "Then" and "Now". As you can see, the magazine from back then to today is completely different. Personally, magazine is one of the things that is quite hard to survive in this postmodernism era!!

Today this post going to talk about the medium collecting tons of information in terms of video, songs, movie, several type of program. Can you guys guess what it is?? TIK-TOK-TIK-TOK haha
The answer is YouTube.
It is undeniable that Youtube is best friend of many people all around the world including me:D, because when we're bored of something. YouTube always pop up in our brain!!! Am I right?? hahahaha:D
This is mostly because there are many things that can entertain and help to release stress after working or studying. Therefore, today we will look into moe detail about YouTube. Moreover, as we are living in this postmodern era, Youtube star is one of the factors that have a large influence on us. Sometimes we consume Youtube and also watch YouTubers' video just for fun such as prank video, drama video,make up stuff or inspired outfits by celebrities. This may be one of the signals that our society are in death of the metanarrative era.
At this moment, we are currently living in postmodern society(the emerge of society in which mass media and popular culture are the most important)which has media as a medium to connect everything together. But, we always consume it just for fun instead of trying to learn and understand it clearly that why we cannot deny that now we are in death of the metanarrative.
...???....
So, some may not understand that" What metanarrative is". OK let's me explain to you guys.
Metanarrative is a combination of thought, idea, wisdom that related to certain topics. It can be said that Metanarrative is a big story that represents for every single thing that happens in our society. Nevertheless, our society was changed to be in death of the metanarrative (death of the enlightenment project).
In this post I will explain the example of death of the metanarrative which is YouTubers or YouTube star.
It is commonly accepted that YouTuber are people who create a video in several topics to talk and exchange thought, ideas and even life style with audience. But, nowadays some YouTubers create the videos just for gaining more subscribers, like, comments in order to gain fame. So, some of them create the video just for pranking people or making up interesting headline of the video. But, we entered it, the details is so completely different from what we thought. Personally, they try to made the video just for gaining more reputation.
The prank video, drama video or gossip things made by YouTubers are the most popular video in Youtube. This is mostly because people just watch it for entertainment. Also, I can guarantee that most of people never watch the video until the end. When they entered and watch some parts of it, they may change to watch other YouTubers' video. So, it means the "attention span" dramatically decrease cause most audiences change videos or YouTubers' channel many times. Another example, some YouTubers try to make whatever that make their video go viral (such as prank video, telling joke, drama moment and so on) in order to make it in the top hits video. Therefore, it means those YouTubers just made the video in order to sell entertainment to viewers rather than give the good information. This is another reason that why I believed that YouTubers are one of the parts that make our society become death of the metanarrative.

This research stated that it's a trend because YouTubers have equal influence on teens and young adults. YouTubers are going to be a mainstream and over 60 percent of all the age groups questions confirmed they will buy product, service from a brand endorsed by YouTubers' creator. This is probably because YouTubers are also followed on social media by a relatively equal number of each of the age groups. As the picture below can imply that YouTubers has a large influence on young people in today's society. So, this could answer that teens and young adults become addicted to YouTubers. They automatically consume some useless contents from them and finally our society gradually turn out to be death of the metanarrative.
To sum up, I pick up this topic because as I am one of people in this society. I pretty understand that people are now consuming social media especially YouTube on daily life. Some people just consume or watch just for entertainment and forgot to think about the true benefit of some information that appeared in YouTube. So, it means today YouTube is compared as a place that people just use for fun and relax themselves. For example, they watch the prank video, drama video or useless information that many YouTubers make it just for more gaining likes, subscribers and surely reputation. But, beyond these actually there are several good information that people miss to watch or consume it. That why I consider that YouTubers and YouTube are one of the parts that make our society turn out to be death of the metanarative.

So Today I will talk about "FASHION among celebrities".
Talking about fashion is very a big big things since each person see fashion in their own style. But in my opinion I see fashion as a ART. This is because you can mix and match every stuffs in your wardrobe and have fun with it. This is fashion in my own word:D
Nevertheless, in today's society we cannot deny that celebrities have a large influence on us in terms of dressing, make up, lifestyle and so on. Hence, today's topic is "Do celebrities play a large role on our society"
It is undeniable that our world become more connected in terms of social network, media. So, we can easily receive a large influence on other societies and cultures. As you can see in today's society a large number of people are able to speak ENGLISH which is compared as a MEDIUM to communicate and exchange some cultures' belief among one another. According to this many people adopt those cultural ideas, beliefs and gradually adapt to their own cultural beliefs such as Foods, Dressing style, make up and so on because we are currently living in contemporary world and postmodern society which allow every single type of media to shape and change our thought!!!
So, the answer of today's post is going to be "YES"
Back then people in each country has their own fashion which was considered as trendy things in their culture. But when we are currently in postmodern society, everything completely changed. Postmodern society describes the emergence of a society in which the importance of power of Mass Media and popular culture shape our society. As we can see that in the past we dress up because we need some thing to give warmness to our body, but nowadays people has more passion to dress up and pick up stuffs everyday because they would like to be as their celebrities idol.(Everyone can has their own favorite celebrities, maybe in entertainment, sports, politics, business and so on.) It can be said that celebrities are people's inspiration which help to make our world become more connected. This is mostly because when people would like to become as their idol, it means that they automatically learn new cultures. For example, one are really obsessed with K-pop, J-pop, they watch and listen their idol's work over and over again. According to this they learn Korea culture automatically in terms of watching music video, listening Korea language and even copying their outfits hahaha. Consequently, celebrities definitely play a large role on our culture.
In addition, social network, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook page is another option that allow people to absorb celebrities' s cultural trend. As you guys know that celebrities is a group of people who are always being in the spotlight. Therefore, no matter what they do, people also pay attention to them. Surely, in this era people follow their idol via social net work such as clothing, make up and even life style. That is another reason why celebrities or idol has a large influence on our society!!!!

YouTube is another place collecting several videos about celebrities. So, it is commonly accepted that people around the world can follow the current trend of celebrities via this media. Moreover, when people watch it over and over again, they may adopt and adapt celebrities' style into their culture. According to this SOCIAL VALUE when people change something, the social value is going to be change too. For example, in the past people may dress up just for protecting themselves from unpredictable weather, but today our world become more connected. People have a chance to see new things such as foods, fashion, technology via social network.

According to this chart it show that more than half of people who did this survey think that celebrity is the most factor that influence them to buy a product more than price and quality. So, it can be one of the good evidences to answer the topic of this post which is definitely YES, celebrities did play a large role in our society in many factors.
To sum up, we are currently living in a technological era which allow us to consume more information than ever. When people consume something, they will automatically receive what they read, watch, listen via media. Then, they could adapt and adopt into their society and culture such as fashion trend, foods and so on. So, it means our world become multicultural which is easy for people to gain more understanding about each other in terms of "Culture". In my point of view, celebrity has a large influence on our society since when I was serving the internet and some topic or something that related to celebrities pop up, I will click to read the rest of it. This is mostly because we are now obsessed with celebrity culture.
