Guys Today I will talk about one of the printed medias that was very popular back then!! Can you guys guess what it is hahaha:) I thought you can notice from the topic and picture below.
Yessssss, this post I will talk about the revolution of magazine from past to present time.
It is commonly accepted that magazine publication or printed media that will be published in a regular schedule. It contains the variety of content such as fashion, lifestyle, make up, health and even horoscope haha. I know you!!! I'm sure that many times that you read magazine since you are curious to know what is going to happen in life. Am I right???
Anyway, there are several brand magazine that have been in this industry for many years such as Vogue, Time magazine, seventeen and so on. Nevertheless, when our world become postmodernism, there are lot of magazine industries that need to shut down their business. This is probably because they did no have enough sponsors or advertisings that could maintain the finance of company. Consequently, in this post I'm going to talk about Magazine from "Then" and "Now". As you can see, the magazine from back then to today is completely different. Personally, magazine is one of the things that is quite hard to survive in this postmodernism era!!
As you guys can see if we talk about fashion, I can guarantee that magazine will definitely pop up in your brain as top choices. People consume fashion trend and also imitate some outfits or style selections via magazine. In the past from today magazine has completely changed a lot in terms of informations, the graphic, sell marketing and even the cover of the magazine especially front cover. This is mostly because our world has received a large influence on Globalization and mass media.
Firstly, magazine in the "PAST"
People consume and buy magazine since they are truly curious to know the information inside it. They read it an try very hard to gain understanding of its details. So, It can be said that they read and appreciate every single details and surely bring those information to adapt and use in their real life. In terms of front page cover having stars to represent people in that period of time. In my point of view, back then model in the cover page were beautiful just like the way they were. These model represented the true beauty of women since at that time there are not technologies which used for editing their real beauty, photoshop and other application. Another thing is people at that time follow the news or movement of the world via magazine or printed media. This is because new media did not exist yet!!! Moreover, the information being appeared in the magazine is very appropriate and suit for every single age to consume since the topic is all about people's life style, foods, health, fashion and way of life. So that why people back then had more chance to appreciate the real beauty of art and enjoy their life.
Secondly,magazine in postmodernism era ("NOW")
It is undeniable that today magazine industry are still struggle with economic problem. This is because most people tend to consume information that appear inside the magazine via social network and surely new media. So, the circulation of magazine has dramatically decreased. That why several magazine's companies have to shut down their business.(as you can see from news) Therefore, it's time to change the selling's way to readers. Some magazine's brand try to study about new marketing method in order to survive in this postmodernism era. Most of them come up with the good idea which is digital magazine. They will upload information via new media and also blog in order to maintain viewers. It means they have to adapt themselves into modern culture or postmodernism society. Anyway, in terms of information, the info in the magazine is not good as before. Some try to publish everything that can attract audience such as gossip things, celebrity's love life and inappropriate information about gender. In my point of view, people who consume magazine in this era do not think clearly or follow the main idea of each topic just consume it for entertainment. Consequently, company who would like to survive in this postmodernism have to adapt marketing's strategy. Also, the information inside the magazine is not has good quality as before since they focus on circulation instead of quality of information.
According to the printed media crisis, I come up with the statistics that can support that magazine or printed media are going to fall every single year. But, social network in terms of internet is very popular in this period of time. So, magazine's company should adapt themselves into postmodernism in order to survive in this era!!!

Overall, these are some of my opinions and facts that I have researched about the real story of magazine from back then to at this moment. So, as you can see the magazine industry has been completely changed in terms of quality of information, sell marketing and several factors. I hope you guys will gain more understanding about magazine's brands having to shut down their business also differentiate magazine between past and today. For me, I'm the one who has strong passion about magazine. I wish the editor should think about information first since do not forget that you are selling information not just only advertising the product. And surely, all magazine companies should use digital marketing in order to survive in this period of time:D

I really like the old cover of magazine. It seem very natural and real unlike the modern one, every aspect of the model seem unrealistic
ReplyDeleteI think most of the magazines nowadays like to present about body and focus on sex appeal too much. I like how the oldies look more pure and more natural.
